Casting Fast Form System
panels offer
Casting
is the act of placing (often called pouring) cement into the concrete perimeter form. A flat, smooth casting
surface is needed for concrete placement into the
Fast Form System
panel - this surface is called the
Casting
Bed. Typically the building floor slab or a concrete
parking lot are
used for the casting beds, however other alternatives are available.
Planning ahead for a concrete parking lot casting bed works extremely well and leaves a
low maintenance parking surface which is superior to asphalt. The
Perimeter
Casting Form, referred to as the
"form", is the physical barrier which creates the final panel shape by holding
the concrete as it is placed and cured.
The structural Integrity of the patent
pending Fast
Form System design makes it "free standing", a unique
feature in the industry. In other words, the form does not need additional support
to keep the perimeter casting form in place. The free standing form
design results in
several major benefits.
-
No need for
countless attachments to the casting bed to hold the perimeter casting form in
place.
-
Reduced labor
in drilling and filling holes.
-
Reduced cost of
fastener hardware.
-
Reduced
construction schedule.
-
No used form
boards to handle, manage and pay for disposal when concrete
placement is complete.
Another advantage of the
Fast Form System
is the ease of
Stack Casting, which is the
ability to cast panels on top of other panels which have already been cast and cured.
This is possible because the rigid design of the
Fast
Form System perimeter form resists deflection (twisting or
bowing out) as panels are "stacked" and "cast". Stack Casting
has some major benefits. Because panels can be stacked 3 to 4 feet high, casting bed
foot print requirements are greatly reduced lowering the overall need for casting bed
surface space.. For instance, 6 to 12 panels could be stacked over a single panel
footprint.
Another major benefit of stack casting is the reduced need for "walking"
panels from distant casting sites to the placement location.
Panel
Walking is a situation when the crane cannot reach and set the panel from
one position. The crane must lift and carry, or "walk", the panel to
within reach of its final position. Walking panels takes additional installation
time, however walking a few panels is sometimes unavoidable.
Fast Form System
stack casting reduces
panel "walking" situations.
